I'm Richard Turrell - welcome to my website. I have been working in the treatment of behavioural and psychological health since 2010, with a proven track record of supporting individuals from a wide range of backgrounds to move towards meaningful and sustainable change.

Alongside a small, focused one-to-one therapy practice, I work in a case-management capacity. This involves designing and overseeing integrated treatment plans that may include psychotherapy, psychiatric input, treatment episodes, recovery coaching, nutritional support, and other specialist interventions. My role is often to hold the whole picture: ensuring that care is coherent, clinically appropriate, and responsive as needs evolve over time.

In my clinical work, I support people presenting with anxiety, depression, trauma, shame, compulsive behaviour and broader behavioural health concerns. I am particularly interested in working not only with presenting symptoms, but also with the deeper psychological and relational patterns that underpin them.

First and foremost, I place a strong emphasis on the therapeutic relationship. I see this as the foundation upon which effective work is built. Within this relational context, I draw on a range of approaches, including psychodynamic therapy, somatic trauma work, and EMDR, tailoring the work to the individual rather than applying a one-size-fits-all model.

Over the years, I have developed strong working relationships with a wide network of professionals and organisations in the UK and internationally. This includes consultant psychiatrists, couples and family therapists, detoxification services, residential and outpatient treatment providers, recovery coaches, and complementary practitioners. I work closely with these colleagues to ensure a genuinely holistic and joined-up approach, supporting clients through each stage of their journey with clarity, containment, and continuity of care.
